The Contemporary Photography Workshop focuses on the basics of
photography, both digital and film, while accommodating the beginner
and intermediate level photographer. (The On-Location Workshop is
strongly suggested as a hands-on supplement to this class)
Each class is
limited to eight students, assuring quality attention to
instruction. Each class meeting will include an assignment to complete
before the next meeting. All classes include an end-of-session student
exhibition at the gallery.
This class
meets once a week for five weeks.
There are two
sections of this class during each session held at LANCEPHOTO Studio
& Gallery on Grand Boulevard in New Port Richey.
Monday Class is for ages 14-18
only.
Meets Mondays from 10AM - Noon

Tuesday Class is for adults only.

On-Location
Photography Workshop - $165.00

The On-Location Photography Workshop focuses on a wide variety of
photographic situations while accommodating the beginner and
intermediate level photographer. The instructor will be available at
each location to give general guidance and instruction.
This class is
recommended as an supplement to the Contemporary Photography Workshop
and will enable the student to accomplish many of the class assignments
on-location with the instructor’s assistance. This class is limited to
16 students.
All classes
include an end-of-session student exhibition at the gallery.
This class
meets once a week for five weeks.
This class is
given once each session, held at five different locations around Pasco
County. Students must arrange their own transportation.
On-Location Class is for ages 14
and up.

About the
Instructor
A professional photographer since 1987, Lance
A. Rothstein is currently a staff photographer for The St. Petersburg
Times. He also runs his own professional photography studio and art
gallery, LANCEPHOTO, in New Port Richey. As an artist and free-lance
photographer, he has a diverse range of clients, most recently
including Fox Sports, The New York Post and The Baltimore Sun.
After studying in The Florida State University’s
Fine Arts / Photography department, Rothstein helped start a
successful weekly newspaper, FSView. He served as photo editor
for six years before moving on to The Vero Beach Press-Journal and then
The Fort Pierce Tribune.
While focusing on fine art photography and
photojournalism, Rothstein’s vast experience also includes extensive
work in weddings, portraiture, nature, sports, fashion, products, and
digital design.

General
Information
Each class will meet 5 times and have 4 assignments. A syllabus/text
will be given to each student and be posted online with a calendar and
online gallery.
Call or eMail to register A.S.A.P.! The
Contemporary Workshop is limited to 8 students per class on a
first-come basis. The On-Location Workshop is limited to 16 students
per class on a first-come basis. Each class must have a minimum of 4
students registered, or the class will be cancelled and tuition
refunded.
Due to the subjective nature of art, all students
may be exposed to various images that some may find objectionable.
These may include fine art nudes and graphic violence in
photojournalism among others. If you or your child/student are easily
offended, you might consider not taking this course or experiencing
uncensored art exhibits.
Each student must have their own camera with manual
control capability. Digital or Film is fine, both will be covered. Each
student must fill out the general knowledge questionnaire which will be
posted by May 31.
